Plant Farms

I love the care local farms give to their plants and land. What a treat to see the Crooked Mountain grounds literally blossom. They designed a breathtaking pick-your-own bouquet garden with bright flowers like sunflowers and cosmos. They have also carved a beautiful trail through their property for camping guests. During an extensive photoshoot, I also photographed Maya and Ed Skopal and their beautiful Ital Acres farm where they organically grow medicinal plants used for their healing products.

Animal Farms

What a joy to see local farmers lovingly care for their animals. Katt Whittenberger of Whittenberger Wilds considers her goats, pigs, and chickens an extension of her family. Check out their antics on her Instagram page. Alpacas, llamas, Jacob sheep, Angora goats, and Scottish Highland cattle happily graze on the hilly pastures, untainted by artificial chemicals, on the Chestnut Ridge farm. The Martin family farmers use their animals' wool for handmade purses and decorations. They also sell their animals to other local farmers looking to start herds. The Upson family at Skipwillow Farm raises Nubian and LaMancha dairy goats and chickens. They sell eggs, goat milk shares, and goats to establish herds of others. Guests staying at guest houses on the Chestnut Ridge or Skipwillow farms can meet farm animals during their stays.
